Infernal Angel

by Edward Lee

Review by Stephen Clark

Fans of the extreme, of the gore and hardcore, lend me your ears!

Fans of Edward Lee have come to expect a wild debauchery of literary fare whenever there’s a fresh offering, and this one doesn’t disappoint. A sequel to the fabulous City Infernal, we follow Cassie Heydon back into Mephistopolis, the city of Hell, with an angel at her side and armed with the coursing blood of an Etheress. The angel Angelese has tempted Cassie over with the knowledge of her sister’s whereabouts (Lisa committed suicide in the last book) so we’re plunged into hell with them, and shown every type of vile act deposited on those who are eternally damned.

The angel of the morning, Lucifer, is aware of Cassie’s presence and orders all deadpasses to be destroyed (merges or crossovers to the living world), in the hope of trapping her and using the power of her birthright in a plan that would wipe away Christianity from the world. We’re talking time travel and of a plan to clone Jesus Christ who would go on to kill Mary and all of the disciples!

Reading the first instalment isn’t really necessary as there’s a pretty fair summary of it at the beginning.

Great storytelling with scenes of great imagination that will make you squirm in your chair. Not for those easily shocked.
