Touching Evil

 By Kay Hooper

 Review by Nicola Lenton

Touching Evil is a 384-page book that contains the regular who dun it with the paranormal.  Maggie Barnes, is a sketch artist for the police department and is empathic.  She speaks with the victims of brutal rapes where the rapist will either pour acid on their eyes or will remove them completely.  From these meetings she is able to live through the pain and agony of the attack and hopefully sketch the face of the killer. She is also driven by another force that she will not talk about to anyone.

John, is the brother of one of the victims who commits suicide as a result of her attack. He is determined to get to the bottom of his sister's death and involves himself with the investigation where he meets Maggie.

John sees that the police are trying but that they are not getting anywhere so he calls in a special unit he knows about attached to the FBI. This group is made up of several people with different paranormal talents.

Meanwhile, the rapist is still attacking women but is now killing them as well.

Two police officers stumble onto files from 1934 which shows that there was a very similar set of rapes and murders that year.  The women bear an uncanny resemblance to the victims now.

It was a great book to read, one of those that you get scared but there is no way of putting the book down until you have finished it.  I will be looking for other books by this authoress.
