Feels Like Stephen King
by Steven Deighan
Review by James R.Cain
This is a neat collectible graphic novel penned by Steven Deighan with artwork by Terry Cooper, and autographed by them both.
The story concerns Eric Bain, "a fledgling horror writer" who has his first manuscript accepted by an independent publishing company. Things are not all as they seem, however, Eric finds out when he uncovers the true meaning of a mentioned "Special Agreement" in his contract.
Deighan offers us a neat little story, that I found entertaining as a writer myself, and as a horror piece I felt it worked very well. The strength of a graphic novel however, rises or falls on the artwork, and Cooper does not disappoint. The graphic novel is a black and white production on quality paper with limited use of colour, and the colour, when used was intentionally selective. Cooper makes it a powerful device and proves the story with an added punch.
This is certainly worth picking up for any horror fan. I hope to see more such productions in the future.
