Street Rats

by Tim Curran

Review by James R.Cain

'Street Rats" Is Curran's novel about organized crime, two lowlifes, Harry Swain and Jimmy "Blades" Circurro, and a heist gone wrong.  Together they pull of the robbery of a lifetime for a Milwaukee crime boss, netting upwards of $15,000,000 from an armored car. It's at this point in the story that things go dangerously wrong.  The money gets stolen before it can be delivered, and the body count starts to climb.

As a fan of Curran's work, I really enjoyed "Street Rats".  The characterization, dialogue and voice was Curran in top form.  The ending of the book I found disappointing though.  I don't really want to say why, as I don't want to give anything away, so let's just say I didn't think it had been set up properly.  However, that aside, I did enjoy the ride and if you're a Curran fan, your collection won't be complete without this book.  Get it.  Give it a read.  Make up your own mind.  Then you can turn around and tell me I'm full of shit!  ;)
