Dark Animus #3 had two covers. A collector's cover, limited to 60 copies, signed and numbered by the artist Cat Sparks, and a retail cover by Sean Madden. The collector's was sent to subscribers only and came third in the 2002/2003 Dark Animus awards in the category of best cover.
The poem "The Chandelier" by Mike Arnzen came second in poetry category in the 2002/2003 Dark Animus awards.
The illustration for "Wood on Bone" by Russell Dickerson came in third in the category of best interior illustration.
